A water audit review was undertaken by Water Management Solutions UK (WMS) across our estate including a number of schools. The properties are diverse in size and functionality. Some sites are small and others substantially larger.
Once the details for the sites are given to WMS, (addresses, copies of billing) the council had very little to do. WMS look into the various tariff mechanisms on the billing to assess if the council are overpaying for services on any particular site.
Sites that have proved to be of interest and overcharged included Primary and Secondary schools, community centres, a Sure Start Children's centre, a Boys club and a museum.
The analysis and investigation work that WMS completed to date has resulted in Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council receiving tens of thousands of pounds from their water supplier in refunds alone, with an annual saving across the sites of almost £30k. This ongoing annual saving of £30k is a very welcome reduction each year for the council.
This exercise with WMS has proved very successful for the council, certainly a project worthwhile doing especially when the council had no financial risk. WMS always worked discreetly in the background not tasking our resources or interfering with our daily work. They usually contact us by e mail when additional information was required.
Our experience has been a positive one with some great results attained. It was a totally risk free project with no capital expenditure required.
