Hovis secured substantial refunds and reduced water costs after WMS identified long-term billing errors and inefficiencies across multiple sites.

Water Management Solutions UK Ltd was appointed by Hovis to work on a project investigating annual water and effluent charges. This was with a view to reducing ongoing costs and recouping water overcharges from previous years.

Following a granular analysis of the billing and gaining a greater understanding of site operations significant issues became apparent many of which had gone unnoticed for many years. These irregularities and anomalies were valued at tens of thousands of pounds.

WMS UK very quickly analysed historic charges and were able to correct them with the water company which immediately cut the annual spend on water and effluent charges significantly. Furthermore, WMS UK then managed to negotiate significant refunds for several other Hovis sites across the UK based on historic charges relating to surface water and consumption allowance.

This whole project was a great success with a clear outcome for Hovis in financial terms but also resulting in a more manageable and cleaner water plan for the future as well as lower water and effluent costs.
