Army Foundation College Harrogate Yorkshire - Water Cost Reduction Case Study
Over £50k recovered and another £60k+ still under investigation.
Compass Group recently asked its water partner Water Management Solutions UK to undertake a review of the Army Foundation College water and sewerage billing for their site in Harrogate Yorkshire.
WMS UK conducted a granular analysis of the various increments within the tariff and was soon able to identify irregularities and anomalies leading to significant overcharging for both consumptive and non-consumptive elements of the billing.
WMS UK was able to secure from the water/sewerage company for AFC an ongoing annual reduction of £7,082.53 and a refund of £44,083.43 yielding a total amount of £51,165.96 for this site to date. This refund was directly related to the surface water and highways drainage charges imposed by the water/sewerage company (non-consumptive charges).
Additionally, WMS are continuing to investigate water losses at site. In this particular instance, they have eradicated any form of wastage and are now in the process of tracing and identifying substantial losses through leakage.
Once this leakage has been identified and repaired, WMS UK will prepare and submit a second claim to the water/sewerage company. The potential calculated losses and refunds here are valued at many tens of thousands of pounds. There is likely to be some substantial energy savings associated with this work as it is suspected that losses could mainly be heated water.
Once we have completed our investigations on behalf of Compass/ Army Foundation College, we will also make recommendations to help keep the site running efficiently as possible.
