Westbourne Leisure

Westbourne Leisure is projected to save approximately £50,000 over five years through water cost recovery, procurement and boiler optimisation.

The client

Westbourne Leisure operates a portfolio of leisure and hospitality sites, including the Regency Hotel. The group engaged Focus Green to review its water arrangements and improve the efficiency of its heating plant, with a clear brief: reduce operating costs without disruption to day-to-day operations.

What we delivered

Water surveys and meter re-grading

Focus Green carried out detailed water surveys at two of the group's sites — the Bournbrook Inn and the Three Horse Shoes. Our audits identified incorrectly graded water meters at both locations; we managed the re-grading process with the wholesaler, delivering savings in excess of £1,500 per annum, per site.

Billing recovery and ongoing savings

The surveys also uncovered additional billing issues at the Bournbrook Inn and the Three Horse Shoes. We pursued these on Westbourne Leisure's behalf, securing rebates of over £2,000, with further ongoing savings from our findings projected at approximately £4,000 over the next five years.

Water procurement

Following the survey work, we tendered the group's water supply and secured a switch to a more competitive retailer — projected to save approximately £7,000 per annum — approximately £35,000 over the next five years, with the transition managed end-to-end by Focus Green.

Boiler optimisation at the Regency Hotel

At the Regency Hotel, four OptiBurner Dynamic Burner Management Units have been installed on the site's boilers. Over the fourteen months since installation, the units have delivered a measured 15.6% improvement in boiler efficiency, generating consistent month-on-month reductions in gas costs.

The results

Water meter re-grading — Bournbrook Inn & Three Horse Shoes £1,500+ p.a. per site
Billing rebates recovered £2,000+
Ongoing savings from survey findings (5 years) ~£4,000
Water switch ~£7,000 p.a. / ~£35,000 over 5 years

Taken together, we estimate these measures will save Westbourne Leisure approximately £50,000 over the next five years — delivered with no disruption to operations and no internal resource burden.

Looking ahead

Building on these results, Focus Green and Westbourne Leisure are exploring further areas of support, including energy procurement, ESOS compliance and wider energy and sustainability services across the portfolio.
